The heart of your teach-in should be a round-table dialogue between students and key decision-makers: US Senators and congresspeople, governors, city councilors, mayors and state representatives. This kind of intergenerational dialogue has the power to break through the partisan framing of global warming, and resultant political gridlock, because for young people, this is not about left and right. It is your future at stake, and only you have the moral authority to speak for that future.

How to do this? For state and local officials, simply them send in an invitation, and follow-up with a phone call! Let us know who is coming.

NATIONAL CLIMATE DIALOGUE — WHO'S COMING!
Discussion Questions for Representatives: (PDF Download) (Word Download)

DEAR CONGRESSPERSON VIDEO LETTER
If you are not able to do a video-dialogue with your congressperson, or even if you are, another great option to engage students and citizens with our leaders is to tape a video-letter. This video can be as involved as you want to make it—anywhere between 30 seconds and 10 minutes. Ask your congressperson what they plan to do about climate change, remind them of something they said during your video-dialogue, or thank them for their leadership. Then post the video to YouTube, and tag it as "National Teach-In". Email the link to your congressperson and to us, so we can share it with the nation!

The National Climate Dialogue is made possible by partnerships with the Earth Day Network and SightSpeed.
